Product Description Avid sport fishermen will treasure this book?which is nearly as beautiful as the objects it describes. Fly-tying is a highly prized fisherman?s craft, but it?s also an art form, wonderfully captured in this volume?s hundreds of color photos. Each of 100 fly patterns is presented in a two-page spread: an enlarged photo and textual description on the left-hand page, complemented with a set of step-by-step, clearly captioned photos on the facing page. In addition, fishing enthusiasts will find sections on fly-tying tools and materials plus general instructions for getting started. The author, a well-known fly-tier and sport fisherman gives instructions on making traditional trout and salmon flies?all of them fish catchers of proven effectiveness in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Examples vary in complexity, with patterns to fit every skill level from novice to expert fly-tier. Here are dry flies, nymphs and bugs, wet flies, streamers, and hairwings?a virtually complete selection of traditional and up-to-date examples of the art. The book?s hidden spiral binding keeps its pages opened flat, which makes it ideal for reference at the workbench. More than 600 color photos.

Excellent Fly Tying Guide June 4, 2010 Run26miles (Spokane, WA) Great resource. Clear and easy to follow instructions on how to tie many flies that I regularly fish. The book is bound so that it lays open to each fly, making it easy to access and view the book on my tying bench while I am tying a particular fly.
Makes a great gift! May 24, 2010 MojoRising (Michigan) I bought this book for my boyfriend who is a seasoned angler, but had many times mentioned he wished he could find a good fly-tying book to take on the road, camping, and use in outdoors situations. He thinks this is perfect, not only is the content wonderful with beautiful illustrations, but the binding format allows the book to sit flat on a table (or your lap) without having to hold one edge down as a regularly bound book. Highly recommended!
The best January 30, 2010 John Simpson Of all the fly tying instruction books I have, this is the best illustrated, step by step, book on the market today.
Great book January 9, 2010 HeartforGod My husband is really enjoying this book. It's a good reference for those who enjoy tying flies.
Required for any Fly Tyer December 28, 2009 D. Wilson (Van Wert, OH USA) This book is just plain great! Well illustrated with step-by-step instructions. If you are at all serious about tying, this book is for you.
